CBSE Board Exam 2027: Class 10, 12 LOC Submission and Class 9, 11 Registration to Begin Soon

CBSE Board Exam 2027: Class 10, 12 LOC Submission and Class 9, 11 Registration to Begin Soon

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed all affiliated schools to prepare for two upcoming processes tied to the 2027 board examinations: registration of Class 9 and Class 11 students, and submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) for Class 10 and Class 12. The direction came through an official notice dated September 10, 2026. The notice is an important early administrative update ahead of the CBSE board examinations 2027.

What CBSE's September 10 Notice Says

In the notice, CBSE has informed the schools that the registration and LOC submission windows for the session 2026-27 will open shortly and has asked the schools to prepare all student and subject related records in advance. The board specifically pointed to recurring issues from previous cycles – wrong personal details, wrong subject codes and incomplete records – which it said have led to correction requests, processing delays and, in some cases, difficulties for students closer to the exams.

Schools have been advised to verify the following before the portal opens:

  • Student names and dates of birth, checked against admission records
  • Parent or guardian details
  • Subject choices and subject codes
  • Photographs, signatures, and other required documents

CBSE has not yet announced the exact opening and closing dates for registration or LOC submission. The board has indicated these will follow in a separate, detailed notification, and schools are being asked to complete their preparation before that window is announced — not after.

Is the CBSE Date Sheet 2027 Out?

Nope. This is in regard to registration and LOC submission which is an administrative step that schools undertake with CBSE, and not about subject-wise exam timetable. As of now, CBSE has not released any tentative or final date sheet of Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2027. Any timetable doing the rounds on the internet, before an official CBSE announcement, should be treated as unverified.

When Might the CBSE Date Sheet 2027 Be Released?

The notice on September 10 is evidence of CBSE initiating preparations for the 2027 exam schedule, but it does not provide any information about the release of the date sheet. By way of illustration, the tentative date sheet for 2026 was released by CBSE on September 24, 2025 (based on registration numbers), while the final date sheet for 2026 was released by CBSE on October 30, 2025 (after receipt of LOC from schools and finalization of subject combinations). These are past events and must not be considered as an official schedule for 2027.

Class 10 Will Again Have Two Board Exam Attempts

Under the revised examination structure introduced for the 2025–26 session in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CBSE Class 10 students are given two board exam opportunities within the same academic year:

  • A first, main board examination, expected around February 2027
  • An optional second examination, typically held around May, allowing students to improve their score in up to three subjects

Once a student is registered for the first exam, no new subjects can be added for the second attempt — it is meant only for score improvement in already-registered subjects. Class 12 continues to have a single annual board examination, as before.

What Schools and Students Should Do Now

  • Schools should begin verifying student records immediately, rather than waiting for the LOC portal to open, since CBSE has explicitly linked past delays to last-minute corrections.
  • Students and parents should flag any discrepancies in their personal or subject details to their school now, before the LOC is finalised  corrections become harder once the list is submitted.
  • Everyone should rely only on cbse.gov.in for the official date sheet, registration windows, and any changes to the schedule.
